SLDC’s Dale Ruthsatz to be Honored for Contributions in Economic Development

The Missouri Economic Development Finance Association (MEDFA) will recognize St. Louis Development Corporation’s (SLDC) Dale Ruthsatz with its 2023 Richard A. King Award. Established by MEDFA’s Board of Directors to honor the memory of one of its founding fathers and most dedicated supporters, MEDFA presents the Richard A. King Award each year to a person, company, project or municipality who has made a significant contribution to economic development in the state of Missouri.

Dale will be recognized during MEDFA’s Annual Conference, which will be held at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis October 11 – 12, 2023.

Dale E. Ruthsatz worked for various City of St. Louis-related agencies for 56 years and it is estimated he has logged more than 100,000 hours of work. Dale began his career with the City in 1965 for the City Plan Commission. He was later named Chief of Urban Design, then Deputy Director of the City Plan Commission. In the 1970s when the City Plan Commission dissolved, Dale became Deputy Director of Planning and Programming for the Community Development Agency. In 1979 he moved to the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) and in 1989 the staff of LCRA became part of the Economic Development Corporation, which in 1990 was renamed the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC). Dale served as Deputy Executive Director of SLDC until his retirement. Today, he provides Incentives Operation Support to the organization.

Dale is a graduate of Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He loves to travel and entertain family and friends. He has traveled extensively in the United States, as well as Europe, Australia and Egypt. Dale is supported by his wife Jacqueline, son Chad, daughter-in-law Ria and grandson Rainger. Dale and Jacqueline currently reside in the house he once designed for his parents.
