FOCUS St. Louis to Honor SLDC’s Northside Economic Empowerment Center at 2024 What’s Right with the Region Awards

On May 9, 2024, the Northside Economic Empowerment Center (NEEC), which is powered by St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), will be among the 20 individuals, organizations and initiatives honored by FOCUS St. Louis for making a difference at the 27th Annual What’s Right with the Region Awards Celebration. The 20 honorees were nominated by the public and selected by a committee of local leaders for their impact and service to the community. The NEEC will be honored in the Emerging Initiatives category, which recognizes promising new businesses, organizations or initiatives that are already serving as catalysts for change.

Located in the Annex of Sumner High School, the Northside Economic Empowerment Center is a one-stop-shop that focuses on business empowerment, capacity building and workforce development for businesses and residents. In 2003, the NEEC served 2,676 residents, exceeding its goal of supporting 1,000 residents in its first year.
