SLDC Gives Back to St. Louis Non-Profits During Inaugural SLDC Serves Day

On October 6, the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC) hosted its inaugural SLDC Serves Day. A community outreach event to demonstrate SLDC’s commitment to making a difference in St. Louis, on this day of service, SLDC staff shared their time and talents volunteering with a variety of non-profit partner organizations throughout the city.

SLDC is the independent economic development agency committed to empowering, developing and transforming St. Louis through a vibrant, just and growing economy where all people can thrive. Giving back to the community it serves is essential to SLDC's mission and is integral to achieving the organization’s objectives.

“Promoting economic growth and revitalization in St. Louis is at the core of what we do at SLDC every day,” said Neal Richardson, SLDC’s President & CEO. “SLDC Serves Day was an opportunity to deepen and strengthen relationships with our non-profit partners while demonstrating our commitment to the city and its residents. We look forward to continuing to serve our community in various capacities throughout the year.”

On SLDC Serves Day, the team spent the day in the classrooms at Cornerstone Early Childcare Center, helping with the Transitional Living Program at Epworth, sorting donations at The Little Bit Foundation, cleaning up at Mission St. Louis’ HomeFirst property, packing books at Ready Readers, gardening at various Seed STL locations, engaging guests about animals and conservation at the St. Louis Zoo and beautifying the campus of the Northside Economic Empowerment Center.

SLDC anticipates Serves Day will become an annual event.
