St. Louis Leaders Visit Detroit to Share & Learn Best Practices

In late September, representatives from SLDC, the St. Louis Community Foundation and the Mayor’s Office, including Mayor Tishaura O. Jones, visited Detroit to share and compare how each city is approaching revitalization and equitable growth by leveraging public and private sector investments.

“There are a lot of parallels that can be drawn between Detroit and St. Louis,” said SLDC President & CEO, Neal Richardson. “It was great to meet with similar organizations and learn what has been successful in Detroit. Sharing our Economic Justice Action Plan with government, philanthropic and business leaders reaffirmed that our approach to creating a more just, equitable and vibrant St. Louis for everyone is the right direction for our city. We learned a lot and made valuable connections that will continue to shape our long-term commitment to this work here at home.”

The team met with Siebert Williams Shank & Co., LLC, a full-service investment banking firm, the Detroit Land Bank Authority, regional and national funder, Ballmer Group, the Kresge FoundationInvest Detroit, the City of Detroit and IFF, a mission-driven lender, developer and real estate consultant.
